I cut my race teeth in Midgets and although that was a long time ago, a couple of things still stand out. The cars were enormous fun to drive because they were the simplest of recipes front engine, rear drive and light in weight. That gave them a handling balance that is still the best anywhere. And they were very quick round the lap when compared with anything else. I have driven them since, with the benefit of a great deal more experience and the things that were true in 1977 are still the same today.....
