Sibley, Mooney and Pymm all triumph at Castle Combe Dec 2008 Strong grid at a cold, but sunny Castle Combe, with battles all the way down the order.
Paul Sibley beat birthday boy Richard Perry (and the other birthday boy; Les Grimshaw) for the Class A win with Ed Reeve in third, creating a new lap record as well.
An on-fire Dominic Mooney took a large Class B field from Nigel Pratt with Andrew Actman in third.
A hard fought and race long battle saw veteran David Pymm pip Ian Langford with a returning Peter Hartle third.
Next race MGLive on Silverstone Grand Prix circuit June 05/06; should be quite a spectacle ! |

Sprite and Midget Competition Car RegisterDec 2008 We have received a request to enter our cars on the Midget Register from Steve Luscombe
You may have read in "Safety fast" before Christmas that the MGCC Midget Register asked me to draw up a register and archive listing the many Midgets and Sprites which have been modified for racing and other competition events. There are clearly many more of our cars around than we currently see on the tracks and at sprints and hill-climbs. The initial response has been very good indeed, and the register is now well established, with a lot of additional information being provided besides that contained on the forms.
The Midget Register would be most grateful if you could kindly find the time in which to register your cars. Please note that on the form you are invited to indicate any information which you wish to be kept private.
If you have any friends with competition spridgets, but not connected to the Midget Challenge, we would be grateful if you could tell them about the register.
Thank you for your interest. Steve Luscombe (Competition Spridget Registrar)
The form to register your car is in the 'Other Championship Info' section of the 'Regulations & Forms' Section of this site. |

Donnington Race Entry AvailableDec 2008 Entry forms for Donington are now in the 2009 Calendar section of the site. As you probably know it looks as if we will have a mixed race with the MG trophy. I plan to talk to the MGCC on Monday (26th Jan) and will let you know the outcome. However it would obviously be in our interests to have as many entries as possible as quickly as poss to justify a stand alone grid. Gil

2009 Provisional CalendarDec 2008 Just a quick note to bring you up to date with developments on the 2009 programme. The programme of events is altered from the list I gave you at the drivers meeting. There is always a bit of 'rough and tumble' involved in getting the best dates but, as always, we aim to provide the best racing at the lowest cost. To this end we have reduced the number of circuits by one, increased the number of races by one, and included three double headers - April Donington, Brands Hatch & Cadwell. I know Cadwell is a long haul but we have kept it in because most drivers like to race there, the double header is compensation. It's also at the end of a long summer break (to allow for family holidays etc.) so hopefully drivers will be keen to get out again.

Sporting & Technical RegulationsDec 2008 We always try to have these completed by this time (mid-Dec), we started off well but the paperwork is currently bogged down at the MSA with apparently little hope of movement before year-end. We must wait for their authorization before I can issue. However starting next week I shall try to investigate where the hold-ups are and maybe get things moving again before Christmas. Dorothy and I will be away as usual until mid-march so Nicky will be handling things over that period. It would help greatly if you could register soon as the Regs. are out. We wish you a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year, and look forward to seeing you again in 2009

Midget Racers Spotted At GaydonDec 2008 A good number of car's, drivers and team members attended the Spridget 50 at Gaydon yesterday. Sunny weather and over 1000 spridgets of all varieties made for an enjoyable day for all. Hello to everyone who came up for a chat with the drivers and we hope that you gained some insight into the cars, championship and people involved. For those who had to leave before the Collinson brothers of Team Sibling Rivalry did their engine install 'demonstration' the time from bonnet opening to engine start was 49 minutes and 45 seconds. The brothers will be contacting the winner in due course. An as yet uncounted but known to be large sum was raised for Macmillian Cancer Support. Thank you to all who had a guess. |
